Assignment: SELF-PORTRAIT/LIGHT/FEELINGS-EMOTIONS
DEADLINE: Friday Feb. 21, 2014. All images with caption/labels posted to your blog.
In this
assignment can be done between one and three images.
The Self-Portrait, can not only be photos taken by yourself
or directing the camera operator but observational details of yourself;
reflections and shadows we create can communicate who we are inside as well as
outside.
using Light in a dramatic manner, with composition and
content to convey Feeling/Emotion. you will demonstrate your ability to
successfully create an image that gives the impression of feelings and
emotions. What elements of the human
experience and the physical appearance can communicate human emotion such as
love, hate, confusion, determination’ happiness, sorrow, sadness, beauty, fear
and hope.
Thoughtful consideration could create an image that fulfills
the requirements of being a self-portrait, has a dramatic use of light; and
convey the human condition, captures an expression of human emotion and or evokes an emotional response in the
viewer.
Images and
captions should be labeled as self-portrait; discuss the quality or aspect of
light; the intended emotion and or feeling.
Remember that the
intent of the photograph is to give a sense of feeling or moods. These moods are, of course, interpretive, and
will only be understood within the context of your image. If it isn't in the
image, it won't be seen by a viewer of that image.
This is also an
exercise in using the title and the caption to work in companionship with the
image. Title and text are most effective
in helping the viewer appreciate what they are seeing in the image.
Create an blog post titled: Selfies.
